The Shorts Report

It's inevitable, we're going to be wearing shorts this year... and we're going to like it!
Don't believe us? We're here to tell ya how!

First of all, know that you're going to have to try on a few different pairs in order to find the style and wash that compliments your body best. Don't be scared-  some will not look good... but some will look great!

The Classic Denim Cut-Offs

They're not too short, they're not too low-waisted.
They're simple and easy to wear.

We show them here with a flat gladiator style sandal and an easy T-shirt, but feel free to switch things up a bit with a wide leather belt, a peasant top, and even a cute pair of cowboy boots.

 The Tailored Linen-Blend Short

They're a little preppy, they're a little dressy.
They're a great way to showcase a casual, yet sophisticated style.

We chose a vibrant colored sweater and a classic wedge sandal to pull this look together. For a more preppy take, you could wear a lightweight collared shirt that's half tucked in with a pair of Vans or Converse.

The Bermuda Short

They're a little fashion forward, they're a little tomboy.
They're perfect for kid watching and sight seeing.

You can easily throw on a tank top, flip flops and call it a day because these shorts speak for themselves style-wise. If you're on the petite side though, you're going to want to step it up a notch - literally. We chose a super easy-to-wear wedge and tied up a sleeveless blouse to pull it all together.

The High-Waisted Short

They're flattering, they're a tad edgy.
They're gonna make your legs look super long!

We went for more of an everyday look with this outfit but you could push it on trend with a cute cropped tank or silky shirt. For some booty covering, you could do a half tuck with your top so your backside can stay covered. You can also follow our lead and wear a draped sweater.

Stand by your Brand: Grayling Jewelry

Meet Portland artist, Katy Kippen of Grayling Jewelry. As early as grade school, Katy had already begun building her skills in design through watching and learning from her Grandfather who was a lapidary. At the age of 16 Katy received formal training in the art of lost wax casting, enameling and mold making.  Identifying her entrepreneurial skills she began selling her jewelry from her high school locker. The rest is history...

The name, Grayling is a nod to a curiously beautiful and delicate fish. The Grayling species is known for its large, wildly colorful dorsal fins and has almost completely disappeared outside of Alaska.

Katy drummed up some show stopper pieces for the Spring season. She created unique chain mix and matches with shades of olive, gold, white and gunmetal and added some pops of turquoise to liven our mood. Take a look at some of our favorite pieces from her latest collection.
